The last tool you need.

Do everything in one tool.

OmniWrench is a native Mac app for sound designers, music editors and composers working in games, film and TV. Audition, edit, analyze and cut music in one place, with more modules on the way.

ExportDrag-outs are 24-bit WAV, with WAVE_FORMAT_EXTENSIBLE channel masks and a BWF description of the source.

Modules

One tool, built module by module.

Four modules are available today. Four more are in development and marked as such.

Interface drawings on this page are illustrations, not screenshots.

01AuditionAvailable

Select a file. Hear it instantly.

A translucent panel docks under the front Finder window and plays whatever you select. Space plays instead of Quick Look. When you need more, the in-app library browser searches filenames and folders as you type.

  • Click the waveform to play from that point. Drag to audition just a selection.
  • Drag a selection straight into Pro Tools, Logic, Reaper or Wwise as a clean 24-bit WAV.
  • Output profiles for a 9.1.6 Atmos room, nearfield speakers and headphones.
  • Ambisonics (AmbiX or FuMa, first to third order) decoded to 9.1.6 speakers or binaural, with yaw, pitch and roll.
  • Drag Ambisonics out as 9.1.6, 7.1.4 or 5.1 beds, or as binaural.
  • Open a copied link to pull audio from a URL.
  • Upmix stereo to 9.1.6, 7.1.4 or 5.1 in one click, with Music, Film, Game, Hall, Speech and Broadcast presets. Drag the upmix out as a bed.

Under the hood

  • AllRAD Ambisonics decoding onto your real speaker positions. Beds map speaker to speaker by label, and anything missing goes to the nearest speaker.
  • Headphones go through Apple’s HRTF renderer on virtual speakers for binaural. Stereo stays stereo.
  • Lock-free real-time render path: ring buffer and mix kernel in C. Playback resamples to the interface’s rate, so your DAW keeps the device.
  • 24-bit WAV drag-outs. 5.1, 7.1 and 7.1.4 carry WAVE_FORMAT_EXTENSIBLE channel masks; 9.1.6 is written in SMPTE order and says so in the bext description.
  • Reads WAV, BWF, RF64, W64, AIFF, CAF, FLAC, MP3 and AAC/M4A. Channel layouts come from the file.
  • Upmix splits each frequency bin into direct and ambient sound (principal component, Wiener-weighted). Direct sound is re-panned across the front, and ambience is decorrelated into the surrounds and heights. About 21 ms of latency. Broadcast is fold-down exact: its 2.0 fold-down nulls against the source below −120 dB.

02EditorAvailable

Edit fast. Finish in one click.

A fast destructive editor with undo: cut, copy, paste, trim and silence, plus one-click effects and macros for the jobs you repeat all day.

  • Macros: Top & Tails, Seamless Loop, Verb Tail, Hi-Pass 200, Texture, Mono and Swap L/R.
  • Seamless Loop carries the natural ring-out over the loop head.

Under the hood

  • Seamless loops use tail carry-over: the natural ring-out is carried over the loop head, with an 8 ms splice guard at the join.

03Music analysisAvailable

Know the cue before you cut it.

Check what a piece of music really is before you edit it.

  • BPM with octave, triplet and dotted twin detection, and a click to verify by ear.
  • Meter, tempo drift and key.
  • Loudness in LUFS (BS.1770-4) and true peak.

Under the hood

  • Tempo from multi-band spectral flux with harmonic autocorrelation. A log-normal tempo prior ranks the 4:3 and 3:2 twins.
  • Loudness per ITU-R BS.1770-4: gated integrated loudness, with true peak measured on a 4× oversampled signal.

04Temp EditsAvailable

Select a cue. Get the whole folder of edits.

OmniWrench pins the intro, loop and ending on the bar grid. One click writes a folder of edits, and nothing is ever time-stretched.

  • Intro, Loop, Ending and Sting pieces that butt-join on downbeats.
  • Cutdowns at :15, :30, :60, 2:00 and 3:00, built from bar-line edits.
  • Native tempo only. No time stretching.

Under the hood

  • Sections are found from bar-level self-similarity (Foote novelty) and snapped to the bar grid.
  • Every cutdown is assembled from bar-line edits at the cue’s native tempo.

In development

Coming next.

These four modules are not in the app yet.

05LibraryIn development

A new way for teams to share sample libraries.

The whole team works from one share, SMB or NAS such as Isilon. Each Mac keeps its own fast index, tags are written into the files themselves (BWF, iXML, UCS), and everyone can tag at once without overwriting each other.

Under the hood

  • Each Mac searches a local SQLite index and touches the share only to read audio.
  • Edits go to a per-person change log on the share and merge field by field.
  • Tags live in the files (BWF, iXML, UCS), so they travel with the audio.

06AI Sound SearchIn development

Search by sound, mood and texture.

Describe what you want, or start from a sound and ask for more like this.

Under the hood

  • Planned: audio and text embeddings running on your Mac, indexed once, then searched by description with exclusions.

07MonitorIn development

A 9.1.6 monitor controller.

Audio Unit room correction, such as SoundID, plus fold-downs, upmix, solo and mute.

Under the hood

  • Core Audio input through a routing matrix to 9.1.6 outputs, with Audio Unit plug-ins hosted on each path.
  • Upmix presets follow conventions engineers already know: Music, Film and Game from matrix decoders, Hall and Speech from room-size upmixers, and Broadcast, which is fold-down exact.

08DeckIn development

A Stream Deck plugin for your DAW.

Drive Pro Tools, Logic, Reaper and Wwise from a Stream Deck.

Under the hood

  • Talks to OmniWrench over localhost. Pro Tools through PTSL, Logic through key commands, Reaper through OSC and ReaScript, Wwise through WAAPI.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Which modules can I use today?

Audition, Editor, Music analysis and Temp Edits are available. Library, AI Sound Search, Monitor and Deck are in development.

How does the 14-day trial work?

Download OmniWrench and use it free for 14 days. No card is required, so nothing is charged if you decide not to continue.

What is the difference between a subscription and Lifetime?

Monthly and Yearly are subscriptions. Lifetime is a perpetual license: you pay once and keep the version you have, with 1 year of free updates included.

How do updates work?

Subscriptions include updates while they are active. Lifetime includes 1 year of free updates, and the version you have keeps working after that.

What does “1 Mac at a time” mean?

One license can be active on one Mac at a time. It is transferable, so when you change machines you can move the license to the new Mac.

What does it run on?

Any Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 14 or later.

What does Super AI add?

Everything in OmniWrench plus Build-a-Score, which generates intro, ending and loop variants of any cue. Super AI subscriptions include a monthly generation allowance, and Lifetime includes 12 months of AI generation credits.

Where does my audio go?

Your audio stays on your Mac. The one exception is AI generation in Super AI: when you generate, the audio involved is sent off your Mac to be processed.
